BEAR’S RESCUE STORY

From the coldest day of the year to the warmest spot on the couch.

Exactly one year before Bear came into my life, I lost my Husky. I was devastated. That kind of loss doesn’t just go away — it leaves a quiet space in the house and in your heart.

On the coldest day of the year, my mom and I went out to get food for Shelby. I decided I wanted a slurpee, so instead of turning down my street like normal, I kept going and passed the park.

That’s when I saw him.

Bear was out there in the freezing cold, scared and alone. When we pulled over, he ran underneath the truck and hid. We stood there in the cold trying to get him to come out. Several people stopped to help, and even the police tried, but he was too scared to trust anyone.

Then a nurse in a brand new car pulled up and stopped. Without hesitation, she opened her door — and Bear jumped right into her car like he finally decided, “Okay. I trust these people.”

I climbed into the back seat with him, and she drove straight to my house. She pulled into my backyard, we opened the door, and let Bear out.

Within fifteen minutes, this dog who had been dumped at the park on the coldest day of the year had found himself on my couch, safe and warm, like he had finally landed exactly where he was meant to be.

I rescued Bear that day, but the truth is, he rescued me right back.

Life With Bear Today

Bear adapted to our family almost instantly and has been an amazing, loving dog ever since. He’s not just a pet — he’s family, and the heart of the CyberPups.
